چکیده
Thyroid disorders are the most common endocrine affecting women commencing pregnancy. hormone metabolism is strongly influenced by selenium status; however, relationship between serum concentrations and thyroid hormones in euthyroid pregnant unknown. This study investigated maternal status during pregnancy utilizing data from a retrospective, cross-sectional (Maternal Outcomes Nutrition Tool or MONT study) with cohorts two tertiary care hospitals South East Queensland, Australia. Pregnant ( n = 206) were recruited at 26–30 weeks gestation assessed using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. function parameters measured samples lowest (51.2 ± 1.2 µg/L), mean representative of entire cohort (78.8 0.4 µg/L) optimal (106.9 2.3 µg/L). Women low demonstrated reduced fT 3 levels P < 0.05) increased TPOAb 0.01). Serum was positively correlated negatively 0.001). 4 thyroid-stimulating (TSH) not different all groups, though /TSH ratio 0.05). Incidence disorders, notably gestational diabetes mellitus, within These results suggest Queensland may be adequate, possible implications for atypical undesirable outcomes.

متن کاملUlcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease Are Associated with Decreased Serum Selenium Concentrations and Increased Cardiovascular Risk
The incidence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and associated oxidative stress is increasing. The antioxidant mineral selenium (Se) was measured in serum samples from 106 IBD patients (53 with ulcerative colitis (UC) and 53 with Crohn's disease (CD)) and from 30 healthy controls. Serum Se concentrations were significantly lower in UC and CD patients than in healthy controls (p < 0.001) and s...
